Iloilo City is home to the delicious noodle soup filled with pork innards, chicharon, vegetables, beef loan, and chicken breast that we lovingly call the Lapaz Batchoy. While no one knows who made the very first bowl of batchoy, most people would agree that the best batchoy in Iloilo is a toss up between Ted's, Deco's, and Netong's.
It's used to be difficult for tourists to truly compare for themselves who makes it best, but now that Netong's Original Special Lapaz Batchoy is open at the Atria Park District it has become easier than ever,
Before Netong's opened their Atria store, you can only find their batchoy inside the La Paz Public Market. You can now find them at the center of Ayala's new food hub, the Atria Park District. The location is very convenient as it's quite accessible - whether you're shopping in SM City, drinking in Smallville Complex, or strolling around Iloilo River Esplanade.
They have a pretty nice air-conditioned restaurant that is far more comfortable than their original location inside a public market. If you want to a truly authentic experience, however, I suggest you still go to their original store in La Paz. Nothing beats having a bowl of batchoy paired with the heat and smell of a public market.
Here's the menu if you want to check out their prices. It's worth noting that they increased their prices in the new restaurant.
If you're looking for very polite staff, you won't find it at Netong's. That's pretty much to be expected. No one is going to be that nice to you while handing over a bowl of batchoy.
If you're curious about who I think serves it best, I would have to give it to Deco's Lapaz Batchoy. Netong's, however, is a close second.

I miss La Paz batchoy so much! Good to know more stores are serving this delicious food. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, it's hard to find good Batchoy away from Iloilo. Netong's has actually been around since forever, but it's great that it's more accessible now!
DeleteThanks for visiting Lux! :D
