Three Reasons Why Escoffier Cook's Companion is the Perfect Kitchen Partner

There are a couple of really great apps out there that make life in the kitchen a whole lot easier and one of which is the Escoffier Cook's Companion - named as one of the best cooking apps for new and seasoned chefs. This simple app is packed with a number of very useful features ranging from a kitchen converter to a full glossary of kitchen lingo. The best thing about it is that it's FREE. Yes, I love free apps a lot!

Scroll down to find out the top 3 reasons why you should download this app, or you can just watch the video on top to see what it can do.

1. It has an Awesome Converter

I really love the converter that comes with the app and I think it's the second most useful feature of Escoffier Cook's Companion. With this feature, you can easily convert the temperature measurements from Centigrade to Fahrenheit or vice versa

I used to get so annoyed whenever I see a recipe online, in a cookbook, or in magazines where they would normally cite temperatures in Fahrenheit. I mentioned in a previous article that I cook using an induction stove, which has temperature levels quoted in Centigrade (from 140°C - 270°C). So I would normally google the conversion, but now I can use this app instead.

With Escoffier Chef's Companion, I can also quickly convert weight and volume measures as well. I don't get to use the length measurement yet but I might use it sometime in the future.

Tip: Just click on the colored rectangle (°C to °F) to change the unit of measure.

2. Ingredients Library

Ingredients can make or break any of our recipes. We know that using bad ingredients from the start would result in a bad dish. Garbage in, garbage out. Ingredients can also be a source of inspiration for all of us, since we would tend to mix up lot of ingredients when cooking to try and elevate the flavor of our dishes.

Given the importance of quality ingredients, imagine my delight when I found out that Escoffier Cook's Companion includes an ingredient library with details such as an ingredient overview, storage temp, menu uses, signs of quality, and purchase specs.

I find this quite useful, and I imagine it can be handy for both seasoned and amateur chefs alike. Ingredients come from all over the world, and there are a wide range of ingredients that even seasoned chefs haven't had the chance to work with. It's even more useful for amateur chefs since the app contains tips on how to properly handle and use different ingredients to craft a delicious dish.

This is, hands down, my favorite feature of Escoffier's Cook's Companion!

3. Equipment F.A.Q.

The app also has a great equipment library that offers tips for usage, cleaning, and storage of different kitchen tools. This will be very useful for amateur cooks since they still have a lot to learn in terms of proper handling of the different tools available in their arsenal.

I often use this feature whenever I encounter kitchen equipment I'm not familiar with. This feature can give you instructions on using Gugelhupfs or cleaning Larding Needles! Very helpful, right?

These are the top 3 most useful tools included in the app but there's also a timer and glossary. Ultimately, it's a really great tool for anyone working in the kitchen to really expand their cooking knowledge to become better chefs.

It's a really great app, and I hope you'll find it as useful as I do. Let me know what you think about it.
