Watching Masterchef for a couple of seasons now makes you realize the importance of being able to cook the perfect eggs. Perfectly cooked eggs can be enjoyed on its own or it can be used to elevate more sophisticated dishes.
Of course, Cooking the perfect eggs should be one of the first skills that every home cook should learn, but unfortunately it's also easily taken for granted. I mean, anyone can cook
eggs right so why bother?
While it's true that anyone can fry or boil an egg, it takes an amazing cook to perfect one because it's very easy to overcook or undercook if you don't learn the proper technique. It's a lot like writing, a lot of people can put words together and call it a sentence but it takes an amazing author to put together words that people will actually want to read.
Are you ready to start learning how to cook the perfect eggs? Well, let's get started then.
Scrambled Eggs
Let's start off with a video from an amazing chef and one of the judges of Masterchef US, Gordon Ramsey. In this video, Gordon shows you how to cook the perfect scrambled eggs in a manner that isn't quite common - by taking the eggs away from and back to the heat multiple times. He also points out some very common mistakes a lot of people make, such as seasoning the eggs right from the very beginning. Learn how to cook the perfect scrambled eggs from one of the best chefs in the industry.
Hard-Boiled Eggs
The second video is from Divas Can Cook, which shows you how to cook the perfect hard-boiled eggs. It's a method I've been using for quite some time now and I'm very satisfied with how they turn out each time. It involves soaking the eggs in an inch of water, bringing them to a rapid boil, leaving them for around 10-12 minutes, and finally cooling the eggs with an ice water bath. If you leave them around for 6-8 minutes, then that gives you a delicious a soft-boiled eggs. YUM!
Fried Eggs
Poached Eggs
In this final video, the robot from Rouxbe will show you the technique for cooking the perfect poached eggs. The key here is to add a bit of vinegar and some salt. You can even poach eggs in broth to infuse some more flavor into it. I hope the video doesn't put you to sleep, because there are some pretty great pieces of advice in the video.
So now that you've seen all four videos, the best way to learn is to buy a couple of dozen eggs and practice right away! I'm guessing you'll probably have eggs for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the next couple of days.
Enjoy your eggs, and let your family and friends enjoy perfectly cooked as well by sharing this article.
