Salt Gastro Lounge: Serving Upscale Modern American Food in Metro-Iloilo

Salt Gastro Lounge is another testament to the evolving Ilonggo palate. The interiors is reminiscent of a New York music pub, and the food matches up pretty well with the feel of the plate. Salt Gastro Lounge always has customers lining up for lunch or dinner, which says a lot about the restaurant's popularity.

Is it just a hype or are they the real deal? Well, here's what I think of Salt Gastro Lounge.

I loved the way Salt Gastro Lounge was intricately designed. There were a lot of toys being displayed around the restaurant and a beautiful guitar hanging on the wall. There were also a number of Flat-screen monitors playing music videos throughout the night, which adds to the very vibrant and cool feel of the place. It's just perfect for some Friday night drinks with friends.

The Hickory Ribs Pizza (Php 345), which was topped with ribs lathered in BBQ sauce, mozarella, and monterey jack cheese, was a really great-tasting pizza. I loved the rich flavors that come out of this. The crust was also quite good and crunchy, just the way I like it.

The Grilled Tenderloin Steak (Php 335) was succulent and full of flavor. I loved the gravy on this dish - it was rich and matches really well with both the spiced potato fries and the the grilled steak.

The Fried Mars Bar (Php 220) was also out of this world. I've had a taste of Wicket Oreos before, which is a similar concept, but the mars bar lathered with that delicious vanilla ice cream is a bot more heavenly.

The Banana Beignets (Php 195) was also pretty amazing - you can just savor each bite of the Dulce de Leche every time you dip a piece into the chocolate Fondue. I really recommend the mars bar as a dessert, but this comes at a very close second!

Other than the waiting time (well, that was expected), the service throughout the night was pretty good. At least, it's better that what you'd come to expect from other Iloilo restaurants.

Food Quality: 4.5
Service Quality: 4.0
Ambiance: 5.0

Overall Quality: 4.5

Salt Gastro Lounge promised great food, a relaxing and vibrant atmosphere, and quality service. They delivered in all aspects with flying colors. Iloilo City needs restaurants like Salt to offer an elevated food experience to Ilonggos. Personally, I can't wait to get back and have another go!
