Frank & Dean Cafe x Kitchen is a new specialty cafe in Bonifacio Global City that serves a tasty cup of coffee during the day and transforms into a cool, vibrant bar at night. They also serve some really good western brunch platters - albeit a bit expensive. I love the vibrant interiors of Frank & Dean. It feels like a great place to have a nice brunch or to unwind after a long day's work.
I've tried some of their food and here's what you can expect from Frank & Dean.
I had a taste of their Southern Fried Chicken (Php 230), one of their bestselling dishes, and I was not impressed. There was nothing special about it and I have had better Southern Fried Chicken in other restaurants before.
Their Eggs Ben on Brioche (Php 350), on the other hand, was quite tasty with the right balance of flavors but again it's not anything special. I've had better Eggs Ben in Single Origin, particularly in their Short Ribs Benedict which costs roughly the same price.
I also had their Salmon Rosti (Php 350) but I didn't quite like the dish - I find the salmon to be a bit salty. It's not something that would crave and pay good money to come back and eat. They were good, but I won't go crazy about it.
The Cappucino or Latte (Php 140) were delicious. Frank & Dean sources their espresso beans from one of my favorite roasters - Yardstick. Unfortunately, it's not crafted at the level that Yardstick makes espresso beverages just yet.
The F&D Basic Brew (Php 85) wasn't to my liking - it tasted like the usual Philippine Arabica, with an earthy and nutty taste with hints of muscovado. I'm a lover of vibrant and fruity single origin flavors or nutty and chocolate flavor notes so the Basic Brew is not for me.
The quality of service in Frank & Dean was good. The baristas were really attentive and polite. While having dinner, they kept refilling my glass of water and were keep on making sure I don't run out - it shows very good service.
The ambiance is very modern and it feels like you're in a hip, New York pub. When combined with the overall feel of BGC, eating in Frank & Dean would seem like you are dining in a different country.
Bestsellers: Coffee, Southern Fried Chicken, Fettuccine Carbonara, 5-cheese pizza, One Eyed Jack, pepperoni pizza
Food Quality: 3.5
Service Quality: 3.5
Ambiance: 4.0
Overall Quality: 4.0
Ultimately, I would love to come back here for the coffee and not for any of their food. The food deserves a 3.0 and coffee deserves a 4.0, which explains the above average rating for food. Frank & Dean is a wonderful new hangout that just blends in with Bonifacio Global City.

I've noticed that coffee shops now are more "versatile" so to speak as they serve not only coffee with desserts but also breakfast and other meals.
ReplyDeleteI haven't tried this place yet. I think I must. :)
Yeah they really are quite innovative nowadays. That's largely a part of this specialty coffee trend that has been popping everywhere. Personally, i love it!
