Miguel & Maria is a popular foodie spot located along Marikina's Lilac street. The restaurant is known to serve upscale Western comfort food at very affordable prices. The experience is similar to eating at a very upscale restaurant in either Makati or Bonifacio Global City, with food of the same caliber but at half the prices. That's right, you could enjoy quality, beautifully cooked, delicious dishes for less.
The picturesque dishes definitely helps with the restaurant's appeal, with almost all the dishes (save for the ribs) oozing with cheese. Miguel and Maria serves upscale comfort food that's worth every peso - a phrase that don't go together too often.
Here's what you can expect from Miguel & Maria...
The restaurant is very laid back and rustic. It has the interiors of a Chicago Jazz Bar with large posters plastered along white walls, comfortable couches, and brown tables and chairs. It doesn't have the buzz that comes with the hustle and bustle of a bar, but rather its quite a relaxing place to dine in.
The Mac & Cheese (Php 220) puts up a show right when it hits your table with bubbling cheese. It's macaroni that's served with Miguel & Maria's homemade cheese sauce topped with bits of bacon. I loved every bite of this dish and it's a cheese lover's fantasy with a mouthful of cheese in every bite that's made even better with the salty bits of bacon on top that cuts through some of that richness.
For the price and the amount that's served, it's definitely worth every peso. Highly recommended!
Miguel & Maria's Ultimate Burger (Php 220), the restaurant's take of the perfect burger, is a homemade angus beef patty that's grilled to perfection and, in typical Miguel & Maria fashion, oozing with loads of cheese. The burger is served with a side of fries that's perfect with the burger.
I have to say the burger was juicy and delicious with every bite. The star of every burger has to be the patty, which was seasoned well and cooked beautifully. It's a bit greasy, but that's definitely one of the best burgers you can get at that price point. It has loads more cheese, less grease, and more instagrammable than Makati's gem, Sweet Ecstasy.
You can opt to double up on that delicious patty with Miguel and Maria's Double Ultimate Burger (Php 260) for only Php 40 more!
The Baked Salmon (Php 300) is Norwegian Salmon that's topped with 3 kinds of cheese and garnished with fresh herbs. The dish is served on top of a bed of mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. I hope you're not surprised that it's another Miguel & Maria dish that's oozing with cheese! The salmon was nicely cooked and season as it was still a bit pink inside and the cheese definitely adds a punch more flavor to the dish.
The only negative I could find here is the mashed potatoes, which I hoped was creamier and a bit more rich.
Ordering a plate of perfectly cooked salmon in Makati or Bonifacio Global City would typically cost you at least Php 450 pesos. Again, Miguel & Maria offers an outstanding dish that's tasty and oozing with cheese for less.
The Baby Back Ribs (Php 265) is Miguel & Maria's bestselling dish as it's a generous slab of back ribs that's marinated with their homemade rib sauce, served with a side of coleslaw and java rice. For the price point this dish is once again 'sulit on a plate' with a generous serving of juicy, beautifully grilled ribs that's perfect with the java rice.
The ribs were sweet and tender with every bite, no wonder it's such a hit with Miguel & Maria's regulars. It's no doubt my favorite dish as well and I recommend you get this and that oozing Mac & Cheese for what I consider to be the perfect 'cheat day' meal.

Miguel & Maria offers picturesque dishes that are cooked to perfection. You get more than your money's worth when you have a taste of their bestselling dishes. The only downside here is that they're all the way in Marikina, far far away from the busy offices in Makati, Ortigas, or Bonifacio Global City. They do, however, serve food that's worth the long drive all the way to Marikina on a weekend food getaway.
If you're looking to impress someone with a hole-in-the-wall restaurant away from the city, Miguel & Maria is the place to be.
