Sweet Ecstasy: Serving One of the Best Burgers in Makati

Sweet Ecstasy is a hole-in-the-wall burger joint along Jupiter street in Makati City. They are extremely popular for their no-frills burger - crafted with just the ecstasy sauce, lettuce, tomato, onions, and 100% pure beef patty. You can also frequently hear Sweet Ecstasy being mentioned in the discussion of the best burgers in Metro Manila. One thing's clear, people agree that they make pretty damn good burgers.

What makes Sweet Ecstasy so special? Well, we had a taste of their burgers to find out.

You order your burgers from this window. Please note that it's only outside seating and there is absolutely no air conditioning whatsoever. I came here at around 4pm in the afternoon, enjoying my cheeseburger under the heat of the sun. Surprisingly, the place was full of customers even though it was quite hot outside.

A burger that could compel the 'Titas of Manila' to dine outside in the heat? That's the Sweet Ecstasy burger!

The place is hip and cool, with posters scattered across the words. We had fun reading them all as they definitely add to the fun atmosphere of the area. I can imagine the restaurant becoming quite the watering hole at night.

The Sweet Ecstasy Cheeseburger (Php 195) doesn't look like much, but expect it to be full of flavor. The beef is made of 100 percent pure beef from cuts of short rib, sirloin, and brisket. The vegetables are locally sourced and fresh. The buns are baked fresh and the ecstasy sauce ties it all together to make one hell of a burger.

I got the classic cheeseburger with caramelized onions. The burger was full of flavor in each bite but I did find it a tad bit salty. The patty was moist but was also very oily, so it's a good thing that Sweet Ecstasy hand out disposable gloves to help you gobble the burger up using your hands. I do hope it isn't as greasy when I come back.

Is it the best burger in Metro Manila? I wouldn't say so. It is pretty damn good though and definitely worth going back for.

Their Onion Rings (Php 115) is nice if you're looking for a greasy, salty pair for your burger. Maybe I'm just being biased about it because Burgers & Brewskies has the best onion rings I've ever tasted because I find Sweet Ecstasy's version so-so in terms of flavor. I also hope they don't make the onion rings as greasy the next time I dine here - it was a bit too much.

An order of Wings! Wings! Wings! (Php 245) from Sweet Ecstasy is a tad bit on the expensive side. Their wings are coated in their unique double batter and are said to be fried to a perfect crisp. Well, I have to agree that the cooking of the wings was pretty good, but I was hoping to get at least 6 pieces of wings per order rather than just 3!

We had both the Sriracha Lime, for those of you who love to have their wings hot and zesty, and Soy Honey, which caters to the Bon-Chon crown of sweet wings. Personally, I'd go for the Sriracha Lime wings if it comes down to just flavor, but the soy honey was just as good catering to the sweet loving palate of most Filipinos.

The Ecstasy Fries (Php 130), as promised, is smothered in ecstasy sauce, cheese, and caramelized onions. It's a great starter for those of you who love fries drizzled in creamy, cheesy goodness that's a nice mix of salty and sweet. It's definitely better than a plate of very oily onion rings!

The service was alright, definitely not 5 star service but they smile and listen to your order attentively. The food also came out rather quickly and was freshly made.

I would say Sweet Ecstasy's burger should be on your must-try list. It's one of Jupiter Street's most popular foodie spots because their no-frills burger is hands-down delicious. You can thank the flavorful, freshly grilled patty and the secret sauce for that. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the wings on a value-for-money standpoint and the sides were just okay.

I still highly recommend you go ahead and satisfy your burger cravings at Sweet Ecstasy... even if you order just the burger!

  1. Whenever I pass in this street, I've always wondered what their burgers taste like. Are the burgers really greasy? (I hope not) Would like to find out myself! :-)
