Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats: Affordable Steak and Delicious Ice Cream

When you think of steak, you probably think that there's no way you can enjoy a slab of USDA beef without emptying your bank account. Well, it's a good thing that Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats is around to satisfy the inner caveman (or cavewoman) in you. I'm not saying it's dirt cheap, but you can enjoy a thick piece of steak and a nice sweet dessert at a reasonable price in this (previously) hole-in-the-wall restaurant.

Mad Mark's remains to be one of my top places for quality steak and good old-fashioned ice cream, and here's why it should be yours too.

The Signature Steak (Php 315) is the only item I get from the menu time and time again. You get a 200g piece of USDA steak with your choice of 2 sides and 1 sauce. Personally, I get any combination of the Garden Grains, Broccoli, and Smashed Potatoes. For the sauce, it's usually a toss up between the Johnny Double Black, Bootstrap Steak Sauce, or Cream Mushroom Sauce depending on whether I would like the barbecue sweetness of the Bootstrap or the creamy goodness of that Cream Mushroom sauce.

The steak itself wasn't as soft and tender as what you'd get from an expensive steakhouse, but it's pretty good for a Php 300 piece of beef. I always like my steak medium-rare because it still is able to retain most of its juices. I wouldn't go beyond medium doneness, because the longer a steak cooks, the more it loses its juices and the harder it becomes.

As for dessert, you can never go wrong with their Half-Baked Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream (Php 85 for single scoop). Nothing can beat that homemade flavor of madagascar vanilla paired with the occasional chewiness you'd get from large bits of cookie dough. It's definitely a dessert that would keep you coming back for more!

They also have a number of other flavors that you can choose from! Anything with chocolate, coffee, or madagascar vanilla is a good bet. You can always sample each ice cream flavor if you really have a hard time deciding what to get.

During my last visit, the quality of service vastly improved. The service staff were quite courteous and more attentive this time around. The ambiance itself has a homey, rustic feel. That laid-back atmosphere is just a perfect way to enjoy steak and ice cream.

Mad Mark's Creamery and Good Eats ranks at the top of my list of affordable steaks. It's also one of the best places to enjoy delicious home-made ice cream. If you're looking to have a good slab of juicy steak that won't empty your wallet, Mad Mark's is definitely the place to be.
