Learn to Master Pastry with the Academy of Pastry & Bakery Arts Philippines

Learn to Master Pastry with the Academy of Pastry and Bakery Arts Philippines

The Academy of Pastry & Bakery Arts Philippines is an International Pastry School that offers aspiring pastry professionals and enthusiasts the opportunity to learn the art of pastry and bakery from some of the best, multi-awarded pastry chefs from Asia and Europe.

The Academy is headed by Chef Jean-Louis Arnaud, who has been granted an Un des Meilleurs Ouvrers de France (MOF) or "One of the Best Craftstmen of France" in 2000. He has worked in Michelin-starred restaurants and hotels and has won numerous awards in artistic pastry, chocolate showpieces, and sugar arts competitions. He is joined by Co-founder and managing director Chef Niklesh Sharma, also a multi-awarded chef who has worked for top hotel and resorts groups around the world.

Together they hope to provide higher level of pastry and bakery arts training than what is currently being offered in the country. They are offering full-time and part-time (weekend) programs for students who are looking to build a career in the hotel industry, pastry shops, and those who want to put up their own businesses.

Chef Niklesh is confident that the Academy can deliver on it's promise of imparting premier pastry education in the Philippines. He says, "We can provide an even higher level of training here at 40% of the cost students spend in other local pastry schools. In the next six to nine months, our students can be at par with seasoned hotel pastry chefs in the Philippines."

Here are some details on their courses:
  • The Part-Time Program in Pastry & Bakery Arts, which is conducted on 12 weekend sessions, costs a total of Php 60,000
  • The 3 Month Basic Certificate Program, where classes are conducted Mondays to Fridays 9am-5pm for 12 weeks, costs a total of Php 150,000.
  •  The 6 Month Diploma Program, where classes are conducted Mondays to Fridays from 9am-5pm for 24 weeks, costs a total of Php 300,000.

The 3 Month Basic Certificate program, which in my opinion is comparable to Enderun's 3 Month Certificate in Pastry arts, is a bit cheaper than Php 173,000 course fee that Enderun offers while also having 5 days per week of hand-on pastry and bakery training, rather than just 3 days.

We were lucky enough to have been part of the grand opening ceremony held at their school in Makati. Here are some photos of the amazing event:

These pastries don't just look amazing, but they are also so delicious. It's such an amazing experience sampling these masterpiece creations from the chefs that will be teaching in the Academy of Pastry & Bakery Arts Philippines. I'm quite convinced that I might sign up for a class myself!

  4. I haven't tried baking all my life, well once during highschool project but not really a serious one. I'm not good at it. But my sister is a kitchen queen. Only if they have Cebu Branch, my sis will definitely enroll.

  7. Hello po. I am a really really baker beginner and I don't know if I will even have a chance to pass any assessments. These dishes look very high end. I plan to take a pastry course because I just found out how connected I am to food. I wish I had known sooner. Do ypou think that a beginner can even dream to become a Chef de Pattiserie? Thank you
