Starbucks Philippines: French Vanilla Latte and Dark Caramel Latte

Starbucks Philippines recently added two exciting new flavors to their repertoire of artisan espresso drinks: French Vanilla Latte and Dark Caramel Latte. If the photo above is any indication, then coffee lovers (like myself) are certainly in for a treat. Keep reading to see my review of each drink.

FRENCH VANILLA LATTE (Tall - ₱165, Grande- ₱180, Venti - ₱190)

Steamed milk and creamy French Vanilla sauce with mild custard notes complement the roasty, sweet taste of our signature Espresso Roast. Whipped cream, vanilla bean specks and dark chocolate curls top this indulgent beverage.

My Review: The French Vanilla Latte seemed to be the more promising drink between the two (who wouldn't love vanilla bean specks and dark chocolate curls?), so I tried this drink first. I bought a hot Grande French Vanilla Latte on the way to work yesterday and it did not disappoint. It was really good! I could really taste the subtle custard notes in the latte (although the milk was a bit overpowering). It did, however, remind me of Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf's White Chocolate Dream Latte because it tastes  a bit similar

Ultimately, I think the French Vanilla Latte is a really is a better alternative to a Cafe Latte but it doesn't quite beat my favorite Starbucks drink - the White Chocolate Mocha Latte.

3.5/5 Stars!

DARK CARAMEL LATTE (Tall - ₱145, Grande- ₱160, Venti - ₱170)

Espresso, steamed milk and creamy dark caramel sauce, finished with whipped cream and a custardy caramel flan drizzle make for a delicious treat.

My Review: The Dark Caramel Latte was very sweet, less sweet compared to the Caramel Latte but sweeter than a Caramel Machiatto. I couldn't quite make out the caramel flan in the drink since the sweetness of the dark caramel is a bit overwhelming. It's not for me, but it's going to be a favorite for the sweet-tooths out there!

3/5 Stars!

The verdict? If you would like a mild tasting drink with gentle custard vanilla notes, grab a French Vanilla Latte! If you want to satisfy your sweet-tooth, then have a taste of the Dark Caramel Latte
