I recently had the pleasure to try out freshly made ice cream from the Cold Stone Creamery branch in SM Mall of Asia. Cold Stone Creamery is categorized as "Super Premium" ice cream by industry experts, so I was already expecting the ice cream to be really good. What stood out to me, however, was the outstanding service. Everything they do, from dancing to flying cups, is done to make eating ice cream a truly entertaining ice cream experience.
So, here's what happened during my visit to the Cold Stone Creamery.
All the ice cream flavors did not have any toppings on display, which is very different from typical 'gelato' ice cream stores such as Gelatissimo. You do have the option to add toppings later on.
The design of the store was really beautiful. Again they mentioned that the Cold Stone Creamery wouldn't give anything less than the 'ultimate ice cream experience'.
What really made my day was the level of service and skill of the people serving the ice cream. They were juggling the ice cream around and ice cream balls were flying all over the place. You can see this in the video posted above. Imagine my surprise the first time I saw flying ice cream!
They would also throw the ice cream orders for people to catch, which is a really fun experience. Of course, if you drop the ice cream that they threw then they would gladly replace it with a new one.

The ice cream itself was delicious! We tried 3 different flavors; Cake Batter, Butter Pecan, and Cheesecake Fantasy. Here's a review of the three different flavors;
Cake Batter and Butter Pecan |
Rating: 4/5
I can't say the same for Butter Pecan ice cream though, and it honestly tasted more butter than pecan. I like Sebastian's version of butter pecan a lot better, but the best-tasting butter pecan ice cream I tried was the ice cream Chef Gene Gonzales made. That was absolutely the explode-in-your-mouth flavor that you would never forget.
