Whistlestop Restaurant and Bar Is Now Serving Its Popular 24/7 Dishes in Bonifacio Global City

Whistlestop Restaurant and Bar has been serving food 24/7 since 1977, way before I was even born. The restaurant is popular for serving good food that pairs well with cold bottle of beer. It's the perfect place to relax and unwind after a long day in the office or enjoy a midnight snack at around 2am in the morning. To my delight, they recently opened a new store in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.

If you have been working in BGC for a while, you will know how difficult it is to have a cold bottle of beer without paying an arm and a leg. The few restaurants that come into mind with affordable beer are Salo and some of the restaurants around Market! Market!. If you're always looking to enjoy some cheap beer, delicious pulutan, and good conversations, Whistlestop opening its doors in BGC is a Godsend.

The restaurants has two stories with the bottom area being the non-airconditioned smoking area. I really love the overall design of the place - it has a very vintage feel to it.

The second floor offers an airconditioned space for non-smokers. It's a bit cramped up in my opinion and I would have preferred the chairs to be consistent and have the couch-like feel to it on both floors. Otherwise, it's a nice place to have a drink but it does get a bit noisy when the place is packed.

The Hainanese Chicken Rice (Php 220) is a Whistlestop classic! It's moist, flavorful chicken served with soy sauce, ginger sauce, and hot sauce. It's not the best Hainanese Chicken that I've tried but it was pretty good. Perfect when paired with a bottle of beer!

The Beef Tapa (Php 170) was a solid dish, but it didn't pack as much flavor as I liked. I love tapa that's flavored with a lot of garlic, so while it's a solid dish I don't think it's anything special.

The Adobo Flakes (Php 170) was crunchy good but again I think it lacked depth of flavor to make me want to order it again. It had a nice balance when seasoned with the vinegar and the texture of the adobo flakes is perfect when paired with rice and a bottle of beer.
Beer is very cheap at Php45-50 per bottle. That's a bargain when you're around BGC! While I'm not particularly impressed with their food offerings, the affordable bottles of beer will always have me coming back for more.

The quality of service in Whistlestop BGC needs a bit of improvement. They need additional staff servicing the second floor, because there are really times when no one is up there paying attention to customers. The steps going up the second floor are also quite dangerous when you're wearing heels so be careful!
