Hoegaarden is undoubtedly one of the world's favorite beers - 500 years of hard work crafting Belgian-style wheat beer does just that. This classic light yellow, murky beer is known for the subtle citrus and coriander notes that makes it quite the refreshing drink. In fact, we reviewed it a while back and it came out as one of the top beers that casual drinkers are bound to enjoy.
Now, Hoegaarden Rosée arrives in Manila to spice up the city's local bar scene. We were lucky enough to be part of their launch at Draft Gastropub to welcome the drink and have as much of it as we can. It's a welcome addition as it gives the ladies a bit more variety to choose from when it comes to beer.
Here are our thoughts on the Hoegaarden Rosée...
First of all, the Hoegaarden Rosée is a drink for the ladies. Draft Gastropub was transformed into a rose garden where we enjoyed the drink on tap. Other than the 250ml bottle, you can also enjoy this rose-tinged drink in a 330ml can or you can share one classy 750ml bottle with the barkada.
The Hoegaarden Rosée is a sweet, Belgian-style wheat beer with the delicate taste of raspberries and a sweet, fruity aroma. It a bit similar to the Hoegaarden White, since you can still taste a bit of the coriander and citrus notes that most of us have come to love - just a lot sweeter. It actually feel like you're having raspberry juice more than beer. In fact, the drink has only 3% ABV compared to Hoegaarden White's original 4.9% making it an ideal drink when you just want to relax.
The drink was formulated in Belgium with a concoction of barlet malt, wheat, hops, coriander, orange peel, yeast, sugar, sweeteners, raspberry, strawberry, apple, and elderberry.
If you're wondering what the 250ml bottle looks like, here it is. It's very classy... and girly.
"Filipinos love variety, and the Hoegaarden Rosée is an exciting addition that Filipino beer lovers, especially women, would definitely enjoy We have always felt that the female market needed more drink options, so we are delighted to bring the Rosée to the Philippines. Its sweet taste and lightness is perfect for the tropical climate of the Philippines." said Chester Cabrera, Marketing Manager of Booze Online, Hoegaarden's exclusive distributor in the Philippines.
Well gentlemen, this time you know what to get the ladies the next time you're out for a drink. Enjoy the new Hoegaarden Rosée and let me know what you think of the drink in the comments below.
