Little Owl is a nice little cafe in New Manila, Quezon City. It's located in a quiet neighborhood that's not known as a food destination. However, it's been buzzing in social media for quite some time now because of it's instagram-worthy dishes. It's by the same group that brought us Lola Cafe + Bar and Liberty Kitchen + Brew, so I expected that food must be good!
Here's what you can expect from Little Owl Cafe...
The restaurant has a nice little bar setup towards the end of the restaurant. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to take a photo of the restaurant's interiors but it's definitely bright and minimalist, with large windows that help bring in a lot of natural light that's perfect for those beautiful instagram shots.
The restaurant also has a 2nd floor that can cater to private events if you're looking for a quiet celebration. The feel of the first floor is similar, except that it has long, comfortable couches as well.
The Caesar Salad (Php 230) is a salad I would highly recommend that consists of grilled romaine, bacon, parmesan & homemade caesar dressing. I have always been a fan of Caesar salads and this is one of the most delicious (and unique) versions I've tried with whole pieces of romaine.
The dish certainly tastes good but is also beautifully constructed. Two thumbs up for the lovely plating!
The Mushroom Tomato Pasta (Php 230) is unique because I'm used to mushroom pasta being either oil-based or cream-based (accentuating truffle notes). Little Owl's version of mushroom pasta consists of fresh Button and Shiitake Mushrooms tossed in tomato sauce and spaghetti. It's definitely rich and tasty, and if you're a fan of tomato sauce and mushrooms then this would seem an answered prayer.
The Chicken N' Waffle (Php 350) is a waffle sandwich made of buttermilk chicken, sriracha coleslaw, and cheddar waffles served with a side of fries. It's another unique dish because I didn't expect it to be a sandwich and then this beautiful dish arrived.
The chicken was nicely cooked, nice and crunchy outside with the meat still moist. The sriracha coleslaw was also tasty and complemented both the waffle and the chicken quite nicely, with only had a subtle hint of spice. Overall, it's a dish I would also recommend if you like chicken and waffles.
The Thick Cut Bacon Steak (Php 370) is my favorite Little Owl dish! It's a thick slab of bacon with apple marmalade served with garlic rice and eggs of your choice (I had sunny side up). The bacon was nice, tender, and full of flavor. I have been looking for a brunch place in Metro Manila that serves delicious thick cut bacon ever since my breakfast as Taza Fresh Table and I think I've found it!
It's bacon, what more can I say? It's highly recommended you get this dish and it's large enough for two to share.
The Cappuccino (Php 130) from Little Owl Cafe is quite good. It's rich and tasty, which would pass any coffee lover's standards. It's perfect if you're having brunch here.
The Orange, Carrots, and Ginger Juice (Php 180) is very delicious and I was quite surprised with how well the flavor combination worked. If you're looking to spend a little bit extra on drinks I urge you to get this. It tastes like carrot juice, but with the freshness of oranges and a kick of ginger to really accentuate the flavors of carrot and orange. In fact, you really don't get a lot of ginger flavor so don't be put off by the addition of ginger to the drink.
The Calamansi Juice (Php 80) is made with freshly squeezed calamansi. It's a drink I recommend if you're looking for something very refreshing or if you have a cold. I was a bit under the weather so I had this to soothe my throat!
The Warm Apple & Pecan Tart (Php 250) is a lovely dessert to end the meal. It's served with cappucino cream on top.
Personally, I would go with the Cheesecake w/ Mixed Berries (Php 250) which is a plain cheesecake but is rich, tasty, and with berries to cut through some of that richness. The cheesecake is my favorite dessert from Little Owl and I highly recommend you order it!

Millenials would love Little Owl Cafe because of their large servings and instagram-worthy dishes. I would find myself going back here for thick-cut bacon and caesar salad. It's a nice, quiet place for a brunch date around the New Manila area.
